Central PA Open Powerlifting Championships

What a day!  I went 9/9 and got 1st place in the super heavies.  I couldn't be happier with the results of my training.  Since going through cancer I've just been plagued with annoying injuries.  First it was a tear in my left rotator cuff, then a partial torn right pec, then my right knee started hurting every time I squatted. Not to mention the constant neck and back spasms that are caused by the radiation treatments I underwent.  But today it all came together.

In the squats I went 507, 535, and 562 which is the most weight I've squatted post cancer.  It felt very heavy.

In the bench I went 408, 430, and 446 which again is the most weight benched post cancer.  I definitely had 10-15 more lbs. left in me!!

In the deadlift I went 557, 606, and 617 which is my all-time best deadlift even before cancer!!!  I almost didn't do a third attempt because my neck went into spasms.  I waited until my name was called and thought "just pick it up".  It was tough and felt like I was pulling for a whole minute.  So I ended up with a deadlift PR and a raw total PR of 1625.  Not bad for aged man.  I also earned the Al Siegel Memorial Award for best master lifter which was a HUGE honor.  He was a great man and I am very lucky to have known him.

I can honestly say I'm 100% back to my old strength before I was diagnosed with cancer.  It was a tough road but I have to thank the Lord Jesus Christ my Savior, Healer, King, and my God for getting me through it.  I owe Him everything!

On that same note, I saw my oncologist today and am still cancer free!  Godspeed.
