Snatch grip deadlifts
135x5, 225x3, 315x1, 365x1, 385x1, 410x1, 430x1*** This was a PR for me.
These are done with a double overhand, wide grip which makes the pull a lot longer. It’s also more of a grip test than anything. I’m trying to learn the hook grip but wow it hurts. I am determined to learn this grip no matter how much pain it costs me. I’ve tried it in the past and quit due to the pain. My stubby sausage fingers don’t work so well with this grip. It’s used by competitive weightlifters and executed by wrapping the thumb around the bar first and then the index and middle fingers grip the thumb and barbell. The thumb is trapped between the bar and fingers creating a “hook” type grip. It takes several weeks to get used to the pain and I’ve just never put enough time and effort into it. Both of my thumbs are now numb. I got Numb Thumbs!
EZ bar curls
15x25, 25, 35x20, 20, 65x10, 10, 10
I woke up with a lot of pain where my right bicep ties into my shoulder probably from sleeping in an awkward position. I decided to do very light weight for many reps to try and get the blood flowing to it for recovery purposes.
Kettlebell swings
35x400 Again, my bicep/shoulder area was still in pain so I lowered the weight and did a bunch of reps to get the blood flowing.
My bodyweight is down to 308....almost there.
