2 weeks out

GYM TEMP: 75 degrees
MUSIC: Saving Grace, The King is Coming

12” log overhead press (clean 1st rep only)
90x10
180x10
230x10 these were done outside in gravel which makes the footing much tougher. I was pretty happy to get 10 straight reps. These were done kind of light to allow my body time to heal and recover. You can’t push it to the max every day or things break.

Farmers walk (weight in each hand)
290x25’, 25’ I planned on going 50 feet with these, but my grip failed on the 1st try. The second attempt was much better grip-wise, but my right hamstring began to feel funny (like a small twinge of pain) so I dropped them at about 25 feet again. I pulled the same hamstring a couple months ago doing sprints so not wanting to do any damage I stopped there.

Towel curls supersetted with rope triceps extensions
50/70x20
50/80x20 towel curls are simply curls done with weight hanging from the middle of an old towel. They really hit the biceps and grip hard when you go heavy although these were done light as a prehab exercise for my biceps.

Several sets of leg raises

Since I didn’t get a good set on the farmers walk to ensure some good grip training, I did a few sets of grippers. I ended with 3 reps on the Heavy Grips 250 then 2 reps on the Captains of Crush #2.

So I’m two weeks out from my 1st strongman contest of the season and starting to wind down with the weights and volume. I have also been flooding myself with lots of protein and amino acids for recovery. Time to eat and grow. I’ll be throwing in a lot of stretching over the next 2 weeks as well.
