Core Strength?

Most of those who train at Strength and Shield Barbell are athletes who compete outside of the realm of strength sports like powerlifting, weightlifting, and strongman.  These athletes compete in hockey, football, basketball, soccer, and track and field just to name a few.
However, the commonality in regards to the weight training for these sports and strength sports remains the same: basic, compound, classical movements.  Our lifters focus on squats, deadlifts, clean and jerks, snatches, and various overhead and bench pressing (nothing fancy).
The words “core” and “functional strength” are thrown around in today’s exercise circles like it’s some new supernatural way of training.  If your training program centers on lifts like squats and standing overhead presses, you’ll have all the “core” strength you need.

Get a barbell. Put weight on it. Lift it. Repeat as necessary.
This is a good article.
