Beat!

That’s what I feel like…….beat. I took yesterday off hoping I would feel better today, but I’m still feeling very sore and drained. I don’t recover as quick from training as I did prior to cancer and I haven’t really done much “strongman” type training since (or highland throws for that matter). Even though I’m using pretty light poundages, I forgot how much more strongman training wreaks havoc on your recovery abilities. I think it was the Barbarian Brothers who said, “There is no such thing as over-training….only under-eating, under-sleeping, and lack of will”. Sooooo, I’m going to raise my calories a few hundred in the next couple days and see what happens. I’ve been sleeping around 8 hours, but maybe I need more. I’ve noticed that I do need more hours of sleep in a day to feel normal since going through cancer treatment (chemo and radiation).

Temp: 57°

Music: Altars, Conclusions

Power Clean & Jerks
135 x 1, 1
185 x 1, 1
220 x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 - felt pretty easy

Leg Raises x 5 sets

Weight for Distance Throws (wfd)
28 lbs. (men’s light wfd) x 5
42 lbs. (master men’s heavy wfd) x 5
56 lbs. (men’s heavy wfd) x 3 - ooowwwww!, felt like throwing a small truck. Trying to throw at only 50-70% but my feet are all over the place, very unstable. I guess you can’t really throw a 56# halfhearted.

Farmers’ Walks
220 (each hand) x 50’, 50’, 50’, 50’ still going kind of light, but it was good to feel some real weight in my hands instead of just using 100 lbs. dumbbells.

Arm over Arm 2” Rope Pull
155 x 75’, 75’, 75’, 75’ my hands were on fire!

*My typical food intake*
Breakfast: Protein shake, eggs cooked in coconut oil, Ezekiel bread, oatmeal w/ honey, and a grapefruit.
Post Training: Protein shake and creatine.
Dinner: Some type of pasta or rice w/ lots of vegetables, meat, chicken or seafood, a big salad w/ olive oil and apple cider vinegar, and a banana.
Snack: Cottage cheese, yogurt, and oranges.
Bedtime: Protein shake
In a normal day, calories vary from 2500 to 3500 and protein from 200g to 250g……and I usually drink about 1 gallon and a half of water. Whey protein, creatine monohydrate, and copious amounts of fish oil are my supplements of choice......Word.
